Here we are entitled with Master Li Yan Ru with her Award Winning Work!

Master Li Yan Ru has pampered us in June - July 2024 with three Award Winning Works, and this time she relented to hugely indulge us with this: her famous Zi Yu Ling Hua 紫玉菱华 !!!  Appreciated by many in our fraternity as a scarily onerous and an astounding Segmental-Corollary design classic.  It shows its full oriental beauty in audacious difficulty, precision and symmetry.  This work is very close and dear to Li Yan Ru.
AN icing of the cake is that, this exquisite work achieved Bronze for the prestigious 16th Annual Fully Handmade Craft Year 2021 Competition.  This is the most gruelling Segmental-Corollary work she has embarked and she is extremely proud of it.
Zi Yu Ling Hua is the work that is the most difficult to craft compared to the previously launched three designs, due to the THOROUGH Segmental-Corollary Design Motifs SPREAD ALL over the whole body, requiring mind-boggling detailing work.
The surfacing work that she has to perform ever so slowly, carefully, is gruelling.  She has to take care of every mm of surface refining ("上明针") for this work.  It is also the key work that propelled her to Master Artist and secured her place as a prodigy great for Segmental-Corollary ZiSha Artwork in YiXing.  A monumental, original design from her.  Get it and let it earn its central place well in your grand tea cabinet.  An amazing central focus and talking point for many guests, helped by its breathtaking design.

The difficulties of a Segmental-Corollary Work, are many,
We witness Segmental-Corollary ZiSha Work Prodigy Master Li Yan Ru delight and thoroughly amaze us 
The difficulty lies in the fine details.
The details are what bring many a Segmental-Corollary ZiSha work to mediocrity, and what elevates a true master up.
The undulating contours HAVE to be curvaceous, there cannot be any sudden straight lines detected from the interplay of light and shadows cast on the surfaces.  These curvaceous undulating contoures HAVE to be form a direct, distinct and OPPOSING contrast to to the vertical lines.
The undulating contours HAVE to be COMPLEMENTARY to the adjacent segments.
The knife that cuts through butter: is the shadows.  The shadows cast from light angled from around.  The Artist has to screen, screen and screen from all angles, and ensure SMOOTH curves of the undulating surfaces!

Ming Zhen is EXTREMELY difficult RIGHT AT the edges too, whether it is the sharp ended vertical crevice, or the protruding sharp-ended vertical protrusion.  This is a pain to any Craftsman doing a Segmental-Corollary Class work:
Surface Refining work (aka 上明针 Shang Ming Zhen) of a fully round Austere pot can be performed almost continuously by the left hand rotating the turntable while the right hand holds the Ming Zhen tool (either made of Cow's horn or plastic),
HOWEVER, a Segmental-Corollary pot cannot be!  It has to be done repetitively, with the hand maneuvering the Ming Zhen tool up and down, up and down, up and down, across the irregular surfaces!  And what adds fuel to fire, are that the curves keep changing, and she has to keep changing the angulation of her refining blade and one can never be fast with this.  It is time-consuming.  She has to keep looking at what she had done, after each stroke.
When you see this, you can see how taxing and gruelling the work of Shang Ming Zhen on a Segmental-Corollary Class ZiSha work, especially with such a big work as this Zi Yu Ling Hua with thorough Segmental-Corollary Design Motifs worked thoroughly over the whole ZiSha Work.
