Dearest Friends, Craftsman Fu Xian Qiang and Craftsman Zhao Li Ping are a pair of highly skilled ZiSha Craftsmen whose works punch above their weight. We at the Cao Family have talked to them, and have convinced them to join us. And we will curate together from now onwards, with each of them crafting a very special pot for you friends every three weeks, and here Fu Xian Qiang kicks off the series now, with this amazing, Yuan Gan Fang 圆敢方古 version of the Ping Gai Shi Piao 平盖石瓢。

In our local YiXing fraternity, in fact, there are many of us who value, grade and judge the skill and craftsmanship and Art of ZiSha Works, regardless of the rank of the Artist/Craftsman. Yes, the rank of the Artist/Craftsman almost, do not matter any more. We value the work before us, according to its inherent skill involved and the Artistic flair and aesthetics it embodies and presents to us.
This is a Ping Gai Shi Piao, crafted by Fu Xian Qiang, is what we call, the 圆擀方器 Yuan Gan Fang Class of ZiSha Works.
Yuan Gan Fang Class Works are recognised by us in the ZiSha Fraternity to be extremely difficult to accomplish. It involves paddle-patting a round, Austere slab of ZiSha clay, into a Polygonal work! Each pat must be correct, all pats must be correct, for a wrong move will be uncorrectable, or almost uncorrectable. Each of the other five flat surfaces must be done correctly too. The Craftsman who craft such a pot, must have immense experience through skill and hard work on how to land the first pat into one side of the polygonal shape, and later, looking at the roundish remaining slab, patting into flatness the other five slabs. And all six sides must be symmetrical. Refining the whole work into a cohesive and symmetrical hexagonal shape, and firing it three times to bring about fruition, take up immense time and taps into the extreme skills of the Craftsman.
